Bair's Driving School offers Driver's Education at MDIHS. Students must be at least 15 years old by the date of the first class. Registrations forms can be found at the MDIHS main office or contact the Adult Ed office or on the website. A deposit of $100 must be returned with the registration form to hold the space. Checks should be made to “BAIRS Driving School” and mailed or brought to MDIHS Main Office. There will be a mandatory parent/student meeting prior to or on the first day of class. An email will be sent to parents and students with the details 7-10 days prior to the first class.

Parent Meeting Requirements: student's birth certificate and SS# OR current passport; attend parent/student meeting. Pay total cost of $460. Thanks to a grant that the Southwest Harbor Public Library received, students can access the Free Maine Drivers Permit Practice Tests. Go to the Library's website and scroll down to the link on the right hand side.

This two-hour course will assist individuals, households, and commercial businesses with disaster preparedness planning to prevent and mitigate the effects of natural, man-made, or technological emergencies and disasters upon our communities, including pets/livestock and at-risk people.

The Heartsaver First Aid Course provides first responders with training in basic first aid procedures- Including the first aid skills recommended by OSHA- in a format that can be delivered in a single day This course is intended for: · Security and airline personnel · Camp counselors · Police and firefighters · Teachers and day-care workers · Aerobics teachers / physical trainers · Anyone who has a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements · Other individuals who want or need first aid training. This course covers: · First aid basics · Medical emergencies · Injury emergencies · Environmental emergencies Students must pass a skills test to qualify for a Heartsaver First Aid Course Completion Card. Lisa Parkin, BSN, RN- is an RN in the Education Department at MDI Hospital and is the AHA Training Center Coordinator for the MDI/Blue Hill Training Center. She has an extensive background in providing emergency care in the hospital setting and basic first aid and CPR/AED care for various organizations.
