Foxtrot is a smooth, progressive dance characterized by long continuous flowing movements. It is danced to big band (usually vocal) music. Think about the smooth dancing of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers!

Dance partner not necessary. Dance shoes strongly suggested or shoes with suede soles. No dance experience required.

Join this highly popular class offered by MOFGA! Interested in learning how to grow your own vegetables in a sustainable manner? Join us for an evening-long workshop on how to grow your own garden organically. Topics covered: soil science, enriching soil, fundamentals of composting, crop rotation, use of green manures, plant vs week identification, weed control, dealing with pests, etc. The instructor is an experienced farmer or gardener in our area. Free seeds will be provided! All are welcome, from first-timers to experienced gardeners who want to experiment with new techniques. We will even send you home with free seeds!

All attendees will receive a copy of the presentation as well as resource guide.

Heartsaver First Aid W18

The Heartsaver First Aid Course provides first responders with training in basic first aid procedures- Including the first aid skills recommended by OSHA- in a format that can be delivered in a single day This course is intended for: · Security and airline personnel · Camp counselors · Police and firefighters · Teachers and day-care workers · Aerobics teachers / physical trainers · Anyone who has a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements · Other individuals who want or need first aid training. This course covers: · First aid basics · Medical emergencies · Injury emergencies · Environmental emergencies Students must pass a skills test to qualify for a Heartsaver First Aid Course Completion Card. Lisa Parkin, BSN, RN- is an RN in the Education Department at MDI Hospital and is the AHA Training Center Coordinator for the MDI/Blue Hill Training Center. She has an extensive background in providing emergency care in the hospital setting and basic first aid and CPR/AED care for various organizations.

Please note that this class will be held at the Lisa Stewart Women's Health Center, 330 Main St, Bar Harbor, ME.

Maine Driving Dynamics W18

Maine Driving Dynamics is a Maine sponsored, 5-hour defensive driving course that offers all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving abilities. Course includes discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine highways. The class is taught by a certified Maine Driving Dynamics instructor in a format that engages students with lectures, videos, and class discussion/participation. Those completing the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record. Students 55 and older can receive an insurance discount from their insurer.

Student 65+ will only be charged $25.00 for the course but you must register by phone, NOT online.

Oil Painting: an Introduction

This course is for students who wish to try oil painting for the first time or those who would like guided instruction on the techniques and practices for using the medium. We will break oil painting down to a step-by-step process. Learn about the materials used in oil painting, how to mix colors, and apply and handle paint. We will work on various exercises to help you practice working with the materials and begin to work on complete paintings. There will be no class on February 22 or March 1.

All supplies will be provided throughout the course, including a set of 12 color oil paints that students can keep. Materials fee of $45 is included in the cost of the class already. Students are only asked to bring in cotton rags (old t shirts), or paper towels and a few small to medium sized jars with sealing lids if they have them.
