Observing Birds for Beginners (zoom sessions only)
with Craig Kesselheim
MDI is a rich place to become a bird observer in every season. Whether your interest is in getting to know your feeder birds better, or becoming a more active and informed outdoors birder, this course will be designed to be low stress, supportive, and informative introduction to our avian companions on MDI. We will improve observational skills, explore seasonal changes in bird life, and practice identification by sight, sound, season, silhouette, behavior and habitat. Evening sessions on ZOOM are designed to provide fundamentals as well as practice.
This section only includes the four Zoom sessions, not the field trips.
Instructor Bio: Craig has been a birder since his early college years. He is a retired educator who lives in Southwest Harbor. His birding adventures include the western US, Canada, a bit of Europe, and a LOT of time birding Maine's varied geography and habitat. Craig guides annually with the Acadia Birding Festival and occasionally for The Natural History Center.
