College Financial Aid Workshop F17

The Financial Aid Workshop will provide an overview of financial aid basics for adults starting or returning to college as well as and the completion of the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Discussion will include a review of the Federal, state, school-based, and private funding sources. including tax credits. Upon completion of this workshop students will be able to effectively access the funding they need to complete their college degree. An emphasis will be placed on student responsibility and an understanding of the full financial process and timetable. Student Loan management will be discussed. Participants should bring their prior year income details to the workshop.

Bring your laptop if possible, most recent tax return, and other financial info needed to complete the FAFSA.

Want to start or return to college as an adult? This FREE workshop introduces adult learners to educational opportunities in general and MEOC services in particular. This interactive workshop touches on the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career options, and study skills. The admissions section reviews college options, the college search process, and the application structure. We cover in detail the fundamentals of financial aid, including the filing process and the applications. We also discuss effective transitions into college, college readiness, and study skills. This workshop is offered by Maine Educational Opportunity Center.
