Holiday Cookie Tray

$34

with JoAnne Wood

Calendar Dec 11, 2021 at 1 pm, runs for 1 week

Let’s face it, it’s not the holidays without cookies! We’ll be making three different cookies: flourless peanut butter milk chocolate, coconut macaroons, and soft ginger-molasses cookies. All are perfect for gift-giving or enjoying them all to yourself!

This is an ONLINE class via ZOOM. Please invite your non-local friends and family to register as well. You can take the class 'together'!

You must provide us with a valid email when you register so we can send you a link to the class and send you a supply list. (Cooking along with JoAnne at the time of class is optional. We’ll still provide the recipes!)

JoAnne Wood has been teaching cooking classes for over 15 years. She graduated from California Culinary Academy and has worked as a pastry chef and owned her own dessert catering business.

The Diversity of the East African Cuisine

$25

with William Tarimo

Calendar Feb 12, 2022 at 1 pm, runs for 3 weeks

In this short series course on the East African Cuisine, we will explore the diverse nature of the food and surrounding cultures offered in the several countries in the East African region, especially in the coastal regions such as Tanzania - which is where I'm originally from. Most of the East African foods and traditions around food are largely influenced by location, ethnicity, past migrations and trade, and religion. The major players are therefore the Bantu ethnic groups, Indians, Arabs, Christianity, and Islam. The course will explore these aspects in detail, plus the preparation of some Tanzanian dishes.

William Tarimo is a Tanzanian, and an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Connecticut College. With passion in research and causes in Education, EdTech, and Robotics. I enjoy cooking, painting, carpentry, 3D printing, and photography.
