Adult Education Diploma

Through an online learning program as well as face-to-face tutoring, you can work at your own pace through step-by-step lessons while working with a teacher on a weekly basis to earn those lingering credits. Special focus and attention will be on your college and career interests. We even have a survey course you can take to explore a career option!

Certified Nurse Assistant

Take our C.N.A. course and enter the medical field with the skills to help care for patients. This course includes classroom and lab instruction, as well as, training at one hospital and one assisted living center to help you gain diverse skills and explore employment options. After successfully completing the 180-hour course, you are eligible to sit for the state C.N.A. certification test. Successful candidates will be placed on the state registry. The intake process takes 2-4 weeks so please call our office for the application and intake appointment. Class size is limited to 10. **CLASS MEETS T/TH 4-8pm and SATURDAYS 6:30a-3:30p.
Dance: Country (Texas) Two-Step for Beginners

With roots from Swing dancing, Country 2 Step is the most popular country dance style in partner dancing. Very easy for beginners to learn. Dance experience is not necessary.
Partner is suggested, but not required.Dance shoes are strongly suggested or Western boots/shoes with leather soles.
Dance: Learn Line Dancing!

As the name describes, dancers stand in a line(s), side by side, for this style of dance. Types of music will include: Pop, Swing, Rock n’ Roll, Disco, Latin, Blues, Jazz, and a little Country. It’s fun and is sure to make you smile! Dance experience and partner are not necessary. Dance shoes or shoes with suede bottoms are strongly suggested.
DROP-INS Welcome: $10 per class. Please register when you come to class.
Diploma Completion: HiSET

If you didn't finish high school, you know that your job choices can be limited. Even with talent and drive, the lack of a high school diploma can limit your opportunities. Increase your lifelong earnings by earning your high school credential.
The HiSET® exam has replaced the GED as Maine’s High School equivalency assessment. If you are an adult without a high school diploma, the HiSET® could be your route to improved career prospects, a college education, and increased earnings potential. To earn a HiSET® credential, you are required to successfully pass five exams in the areas of Reading, Writing, Math, Social Studies, and Science. HiSET®exam preparation and testing are free to Maine residents.

Driver's Ed Fall 2

Driver’s Edge Driving School offers Driver Education at MDIHS. Students must be at least 15 years old by the date of the first class. Registrations forms can be found at the MDIHS main office or contact the Adult Ed office or email firstname.lastname@example.org for a downloadable copy. A deposit of $100 must be returned with the registration form to hold the space. Checks should be made to “Driver’s Edge Driving School” and then returned to MDIHS Main Office. An email will be sent to out 7-10 days before the first class with more details.
NOTE: This class will meet 11/13 (Wednesday) since 11/11 is a Holiday.

Estate planning is the process by which we consider the transfer of wealth or other assets in order to meet a specific goal. Some common estate planning goals include protection of a spouse or disabled child, tax savings, disability planning and business succession planning, among others. Part of the planning process is assembling the appropriate documents that can help you to achieve your goals. This class will explore some of the issues and goals that commonly lead people to think about estate planning, as well as the probate process, trusts, wills, and other strategies that can be used to achieve estate planning goals.

Mount Desert Nursing Association (MDNA) invites you to attend a free informational session. Come learn about what their services are and how you can use or share them with your loved ones, friends or neighbors. Through their direct services, MDNA’s goal is to help residents achieve and or maintain the best possible health, stay in their homes for as long as possible and support the best quality of life possible for each person. As MDI’s only local home health agency, they have information to share!
